PHOTOGRAPHER’S CONTRACT IN PDF FORMAT:

To access the photographer’s contract, you must register by clicking on Photographer Space on the home page. This provisional registration does not bind you; your registration and your access to the administration panel will only be activated when you return your signed contract.

QUALITY CHARTER:

The Proartisphoto image bank is open to all photographers, irrespective of their field of research, provided that technical and aesthetic criteria are met. In fact, considering the French distinctiveness and territorial aspects of the Proartisphoto bank, it goes without saying that Proartisphoto will only have a competitive edge over larger agencies by aiming at excellence.

Here are some simple yet effective concepts that will help you to optimize your digital files, whether they come directly from your photographic camera or from scanned opaque documents. For this, you need to have a basic knowledge of computer image processing and you also need to be familiar with the main image retouching software (Photoshop for advanced users, the Gimp, DXO, Picasa which is offered on Google...)

Descriptions of your files as well as the choice of appropriate keywords are also essential for the user who is searching for documents. This will simultaneously boost your sales.

Some useful graphic formats

RAW (extension as per the manufacturer):

The generic term raw refers to the "raw sensor input" formats of each camera brand (or one of the models of a particular brand), for example NEF for Nikon, CRW or CR2 for Canon, etc. It is an owner image format that stores information directly from the sensor. The recovery of images in this format requires a software (usually the Photoshop plug-in) that is capable of processing the 12bits/color involved in the digital process. It is the ideal format for quality work, but it needs to be converted into Tiff or JPEG in order to be used.

TIFF (.tif): The TIFF format is an old graphic format that enables the storage of large bitmap images without compression. Therefore the quality of images is not impaired and the images are stored independently of the platforms or devices used.

JPEG (.jpg):

This is a format of variable compression rate (low, average and high quality). The purpose of compression is to reduce the file’s weight in order to increase storage capacity or to speed-up the save and display processes. But each compression entails the irremediable loss of pixels; it is a destructive compression.

PSD (.psd):

It is the format used by Photoshop to save work in progress. This specificity of this format is that it generates and saves copies.

Since it is likely that you will need to retouch your image and considering the fact that the images issued from your sensors rarely meet your expectations - chroma, density, color saturation, contrast, dusting... - you are likely to save your work regularly. In that respect, it is important that you save your image in a format that will not damage it (PSD or TIFF for example). It is only in the end, when you consider this work as "complete" that you will be able to save it under the JPEG format. The compression algorithm of this format enables weight reduction of an image thereby facilitating its transmission. The TIFF format (without LZW compression) is better for saving and storing permanently your raw or retouched images.

To meet the requirements of the Proartisphoto image bank, choose the lowest compression rate, i.e. a value of 12, for uploading purposes. The image will be slightly modified, but the degradation is invisible to the human eye, bearing in mind that the image that will be proposed to the customer will be compressed by another 20% compared to the image that you uploaded.
